Junior Sous Chef

A great opportunity has arisen for a talented chef to join our friendly and well regarded team as Junior Sous at 131 The Promenade in Cheltenham.

Our ideal candidate will have a passion for quality, seasonal foods and provenance, delivering exceptional, inspired dishes and menu selections. With experience working as a Junior Sous Chef or in an equivalent role (in a 2 Rosette environment or above) you will have outstanding culinary skills, creative flair as well as exemplary attention to detail.

Reporting to the Head Chef you will be involved in the smooth running of the kitchen, championing company standards, values and procedures. You will work positively and productively with the Brigade and the Front of House team to ensure consistency of food quality and support the Head & Sous Chef to maintain a motivated and engaged brigade.

Host

The Lucky Onion are looking for a talented and friendly Host to join our highly regarded front of house team at our award winning establishment in Cheltenham. No. 131 is a classic Georgian Grade II* villa which has been restored to create a beautiful restaurant and bar with 11 very comfortable, individually furnished boutique bedrooms.

Our ideal candidate will have outstanding communication skills and a passion for providing exceptional service and a warm welcome to our guests.

With the ability to multi-task, you will be dedicated, organised and efficient with a positive outlook and a sense of fun and professionalism in equal measure.

This is a varied role which but will concentrate on an exceptional guest journey, being the first point of contact with the guests as they begin their stay at 131, whether it is as a diner in our restaurant, a business meeting in one of our private rooms or as a resident in the hotel. The role will also involve taking guest reservations, liaising with departments and dealing with guest queries.

Previous experience working in a customer service role or similar hospitality role will be a massive plus, as would a desire to progress your career in the industry. Flexibility to work daytimes, evening shifts and weekends is essential.

Responsibilities
• To prepare, cook and serve food within your responsibility, ensuring that the highest possible food quality is maintained and that agreed standards for food preparation and presentation are met at all times
• To supervise staff members working with you, providing constructive feedback
• To understand the development of menus and dishes, producing costings and monitoring portion sizes to maintain profit margins
• To assist the Head Chef to develop new, inspiring dishes and menu changes
